Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Re: Forum self-moderation revisited: Link Posting

A long time ago I asked about uploading vintage videos and movie clips featuring the Grateful Dead, and Diana Hamilton posted the band policy (similar or the same as what we're reading in the recent post that applies even to non-commercial links if the material - GD or non GD - being linked to is not allowed to upload onto Internet Archive.)

I presume that in order to enjoy what freedom the IA does have it must adhere without loopholes the artist rights to share in a non-competitive enviornment.

By now we should all know how to use search engines and locate links on our own, if not, try contacting someone privately via email.

Sharing's not over per se, but the days of being wide open won't fly with people who want to protect what they fairly consider their intellectual property.

The IA isn't a grey zone.

It's a library where someone watches the photo copiers pretty closely, or soon will be!
